One of the best exercises for your legs and lower back and abs is the kettlebell swing. In fact, it is one of the most effective exercises you can do. You might be asking, how do you do a kettlebell swing? In this brief article I’m going to tell you the three basic steps to doing a kettlebell swing.
First of all, you will want to get some dumbbells or other sort of handle. Set the kettlebell on the ground and stand inside of it. Now simply swing it from side to side like a club! Make sure that you keep your back straight at all times. As you swing you will be working your core. The whole purpose of doing this is to stabilize your body and get it in a natural movement.
Once you are swinging the kettlebell from side to side, make sure that your arms are fully extended at their highest point. Once you reach your highest point, make sure that you come down to a very deep knee position. At this point you should have your hips tucked nicely behind your legs and you should be almost in a crawling position!
At this time I would like to point out something very important. I want you to pay close attention to your breathing. I want you to really pay attention to the way you breathe when performing these movements. Your breath should be controlled and flowing at all times.
Alright let’s do this! Keep your back straight, and then simply bend your knees and hips slightly. Make sure that you maintain a straight posture while you do this. Keep everything flowing together. Keep your feet hips apart just a bit.
The next part is to simply swing the bell in a smooth and fluid motion. Don’t try to jerk the bell out of its stance. That is not how to do a swing. You should simply swing it out of its stance with good form. Once you get good at this you will start to notice some weight shift from your hips to your legs.
Also keep your eyes on the goal. Don’t try to swing too hard or fast. The entire point is to get the kettlebell swing harder and faster than you ever could before! Once you get good at this you will start to notice that you can lift some heavier weights and that is when you may find yourself doing some serious strength training!
After you learn how to do a kettlebell swing you should always include it into your workouts. It is a great way to get strong and toned at the same time! Make sure that you do plenty of work as well, but try to stick with kettlebell swings for at least 3 weeks and then see what happens. If you don’t like it you can take it out and try something else.
You should also focus on finding someone who can teach you how to do a kettlebell swing. This is actually very easy to do. Just ask around and you should be able to get a few names very quickly. Once you have a coach and you are training with them you will quickly see results! Remember, if it is working for them they probably know what is working for you!
As I mentioned, the key to doing a kettlebell swing is to use good technique. This means that you shouldn’t jerk the bell around the floor. In fact, you want to slow it down and swing it from side to side like a pendulum. It should move around in circles.
You can do some amazing things with kettlebells. For example you can swing them while you are lifting and that will help to build strength. You can also perform them while lying down or even squatting down. If you get into good form you can swing them for max effort!
To do a kettlebell swing correctly you need to have good core strength. I found that my body felt really good after I had finished my first workout using kettlebell swings. I also recommend a program called Stair master because it will take the stress off of your knees and hips. By improving your body’s conditioning you will notice a huge difference in the way that you look and feel.
