Brighton’s up-and-coming Techsters CORE OF IO are today premiering their brand new single “Why Not Take A Chance”and accompanying video via MetalMouth.net, and we’re most pleased by this.
Reason: It’s a very strong track from the melodic prog metal quartet’s second EP which is due for self-release in May 2015.
Bob Tett, vocals and guitarist says of the video:
“We wanted to create another live performance video that would be easily distinguishable from the 14 stitches video but able to tell that they are both from the same era. Dave from Wild Stag Studios is our go-to video guy and he is a whizz at post production. He has taken the footage of iO playing live and turned it into what it is.
The Song: the song is a true story from an event that happen on my stag do in Bratislava, Slovakia. It is 4 minutes of me ripping the puss out of one of my best friends because he was on a mission all weekend to meet a lady. He finally did and had to use Google translate to woo her.
He went back to her house but could not perform due to too much alcohol in his system. Imagine how embarrassing that must have been to type into google translate to tell her it’s not working. I had to write a set of lyrics about it. I’ll never forget that story or that weekend with my best friends.”
Not much better a story than that to think about whilst you listen and watch. After catching them at Mammothfest this year and watching them totally slay, you should definitely go and catch the band on tour in November and December, too. Dates are below!
