Churning and gurning with twenty-six minutes of material, GALE’s killer debut recording hit my ears today and my impressed face was impressed, especially when you consider the Arizona, USA doomsters first live show was in August of 2014.
Independently released by the band as Vol. 1, the release was recorded in nearly one take this October at Audioconfusion in Mesa, Arizona. While not a concept record, the album and its lyrical basis primarily deals with existentialism and the darkness that can be revealed upon self-analysis. With a brutal tone sure to intoxicate fans of Godhunter, Sorxe, Methra and the like, the ultra-amplified output of GALE here alludes to the works of Yob, Melvins, Crowbar, Neurosis and Sleep, yet it’s not simply regurgitated. Gale have their own tasty little sludgy stamp.
What is most interesting is that each of the four-piece lineup contributes a different style of vocals in addition to their respective instruments which only adds to the sludgy melee. They, to date, have 340 Facebook fans but mark my words, it won’t be long before it is a hundred times that.
I’ll update this when I find out more about the band, at the moment, their band bio is basically “Burn your person”, which doesn’t give away that much!
Aside from this release making me pull happy faces, further good news is that Vol 1. is available as a name-your-price digital download. Stream, purchase and spread the destruction below to seem why this debut release really tickled my earbuds and is very much worthy of your time.
